James Culbertson
James (Jim) Edward Culbertson, 60, died Nov. 2 in Anchorage, Alaska. Born Dec. 11, 1951, in Union County, Ky., he was retired from the State of Alaska Bureau of Land Management, where he worked until retirement.
No Hawaii services are planned.
He is survived by daughters, Melinda Maier of Alaska, Sheri Peterson of Oregon; three grandchildren; father, Edward Culbertson of Florida; brother, Dave Culbertson of Hawaii; sister, Diana Gabbert of Alaska; one niece; nephews.
Michael Hoff
Michael David Hoff, 55, of Laupahoehoe died Nov. 9 at his residence. Born June 12, 1957, in Palo Alto, Calif., he was a carpenter and book collector.
Family has planned private services.
He is survived wife, Jackie Parkinson of Laupahoehoe; sons, Kiel Hoff of Portland, Ore., David Hoff of Santa Monica, Calif.; daughters, Maile Stewart of Redding Calif., Faye Quayle of Carmichael, Calif.; mother, Lucille Hoff of West Sacramento, Calif.; brother, Stan Sutton of Fresno, Calif,; sister, Sherri Shuman of Rio Linda, Calif,; six grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Seishiro Chinen
Seishiro Chinen, 80, of Pahoa died Nov. 10 at Yukio Okutsu Veterans Home. Born, May 7, 1932, in Ewa, Oahu, he was a retired mailman and a Korean War Air Force veteran.

Lois Montgomery
Lois Marie Montgomery, 89, of Keaau died Nov. 5 in Hilo. Born Feb. 18, 1923, in Oklahoma, she was a homemaker and member of Paradise Park Baptist.

Joseph Dias
Joseph “Pepe” “Joe” P. Narvaez, also known as Jose Navares Dias, 88, of Holualoa died Nov. 10 at home. Born May 6, 1924, in Honolulu, he was a retired construction laborer for J.W. Glover, aqua lung diver for Pearl Harbor and World War II Army veteran.
Friends may call at 3 p.m. Nov. 18 at Dodo Mortuary chapel, Hilo, for a 4 p.m. service. Cremation follows. Friends may also call at 1 p.m. Nov. 20 at Kamakawiwoole Church in Honokaa for a celebration of life. Family requests casual attire be worn.
He is survived by daughters, Linda (Tim) Lawrance and Herlinda (Juan) Jacobo-Roque, both of Kona, Lokelani (Reno) Rios, Frances (Thomas) Cummings and Estraita Narvaez, all of Honokaa, Maria (Don) Smith of Kapoho, Christina (Lawrence Agbigay) Flores of Mountain View, Ramona (Jeffrey Anduha) Lopez and TinaMarie (Patrick) Enos, both of Hilo; sons, Dennis (Cynthia) Torres and Ruben Lopez, both of Honokaa, Rudolfo (Raynette) Lopez of Ocean View, Cruzanto Lopez of Hilo; 59 grandchildren; 80 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
